- October 2005 marked the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Searchlight Ministries.
- Searchlight was started with the intention of bringing Christians to greater spiritual maturity and into a life of practical Christian discipleship.

- Searchlight's activity in Africa actually began in 1994 while Mike Barton and Bruce Garrison were visiting many central and eastern European countries.
- At a conference in the Netherlands, they met Samuel Emeruwa, a pastor from northern Nigeria.
- From this meeting with one man, the work has spread to many parts of the continent.
- Searchlight's activity has included literature ministry, teaching conferences, humanitarian projects, and establishing cooperative relationships with affiliates in different countries.

- Activity in Asia began for Searchlight in the year 2000 with Mike and Anne Barton's first visit to India.
- In recent years God has opened some amazing doors.
- Searchlight has been able to visit some difficult and oppressed countries, and is providing literature in places where Christian resources are very limited.
- Many projects are still in initial stages, and we excitedly look to the future to see all that God will do in this beautiful and unique part of the world.
