It should come as no surprise that Searchlight's literature and ministry activity began in Europe. When the magazine, "Light for Life," was first started, it went primarily to individuals in England, and just a handful on the European continent.
After the fall of communism in eastern Europe, and as "Light for Life" began to grow, several new doors began to open. Work began in both Poland and Romania with translations of "Light for Life" appearing in both languages.
Along with the literature, there has been a large amount of activity in many different aspects of ministry. Searchlight has been involved in humanitarian aid, teaching conferences, visiting churches, and evangelistic outreach through preaching and music.

Mike and Anne Barton with some of the many friends of Searchlight in Romania. |
Over the past fifteen years, Searchlight has made numerous trips to many parts of Europe--the Netherlands, Norway, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Ireland, and Albania--and has developed many relationships across the continent.
Over the past few years, however, as Searchlight's activity has expanded in other parts of the world, we have not been as active in Europe as we would have liked.
We are, however, seeing the beginnings of change in regard to that situation. In the past few months, Mike and Anne Barton have been able to visit both Austria and the Netherlands. They have been able to visit old friends and begin relationships with new churches and individuals.
