Searchlight Update 2007
Number 3
|
Dear Friends,
Warm greetings from Brownsburg, IN! We are glad to say that life in the USA is becoming more routine. The Garrisons are continuing to make the big adjustment from life in the United Kingdom to life in the United State. Along with this, Searchlight is beginning to resume its activity of literature distribution around the world. The next issue of "Searchlight" magazine is at the printers even now. There are other blessings for which we are grateful to God:
Praise points
1. Mike and Anne Barton have sold their house in England! They are now in temporary living quarters in the UK until their permanent residency visas are granted by the US government. Please pray that the Bartons will get their visas soon so they can get moved to the USA and get on with the work that God has set before them.
2. Different translations of Searchlight’s international magazine, "Light for Life," are resuming printing in various parts of the world. After a short break in printing, the Poland issue of "Light for Life" is now being distributed again. We believe that other European countries that have been temporarily stopped will be able to resume again soon.
3. The response to the various translations being distributed in India has been very good. Both the Telugu and Hindi editions are growing as more and more people find out about the literature Searchlight is providing. Also, the Urdu translation which is being produced in Pakistan is now going to a group of former Muslim converts in the northern part of India. The work in India has grown so rapidly that we now need to establish a permanent office there. The cost for office and worker would be $136 a month. Please pray with us that God would supply this exciting need!
4. We now have a couple that will be overseeing the work of Searchlight in the United Kingdom. They are still in the process of establishing a new Searchlight address and contact information. Please pray for David and Leah Head as they begin to work with Searchlight in England.

Primary prayer requests
1. That the Bartons’ visas will be granted speedily and without any unnecessary difficulty.
2. There are two prayer requests regarding members of Searchlight’s advisory board: Dr. Barry Corey has recently moved from his role of Academic Dean at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston to become the new president of Biola University in La Mirada, CA. Please pray for Barry and his family as they make this large transition.
Julie Higgins, our board member from Ozark, MO, is scheduled to have major surgery on September 12. Please remember Julie in your prayers over the next few days, and especially on the 12th.
3. Bruce Garrison will be speaking in all three services at Red Mountain Christian Center in Mesa, AZ on September 23rd. Please pray for him on that day.

New translation of "Light for Life" in Africa!
Just this week we received the news that Andrew and Ronke Emeje, Searchlight affiliates in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, have started work on a Hausa translation of "Light for Life." "Hausa" is one of the major languages of Nigeria. It is the main language of communication between people of different languages throughout Niger and the northern two-thirds of Nigeria. It is also used by large Muslim communities in countries west of Nigeria-Benin, Togo, and Ghana. In total, approximately 39 million people speak Hausa as their first or second language.
We are delighted that God has stirred the hearts of the Emejes to start this work in Nigeria. Please pray with us that the distribution of the Hausa edition of "Light for Life" will spread to believers all over that region of Africa, and that many hearts and lives will be touched and changed.
Please pray for the Emeje family and their work of raising up disciples of Jesus Christ throughout Nigeria and the surrounding countries.
